Let Go of What Was

Hello Sweet Friends,
I hope this blog post finds you all full of encouragement and full of His Spirit!

Have you ever noticed that one of the hardest things to do is let go!.. There are many things God calls us to let go of. Why? Because it is when we ungrasp the situation out of our hands we can then surrender it fully to God so His Holy Spirit can do its perfect work. God in His sovereignty is in control anyways! So we are only hurting ourselves hanging onto something that is not ours to hang onto. Maybe it is our children, a position, a relationship, or pain..pain of something in your past.

For me, one of my biggest lessons in letting go was trusting God with the pain of my abortion. I had wore myself out trying to handle something I was incapable of handling and it was getting me no where fast. God was calling me to let go of the pain and trust Him instead and when I did He performed a miracle in my life. But, God wants all the pieces, all the insecurities, all the worries, all the pain because He is doing something NEW and in this process we are HEALED! In this process our faith is grown, our trust is grown, and we become dependent on the only one that can do anything! Because “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

The photo I posted for you says Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be! Awesome things can happen if we accept what is right now trusting God is always working for our benefit and good. Maybe your going through the valley because God is trying to birth a ministry. Maybe your avoiding your worst fears but God is calling you to face your fears, walk through your fears because He is trying to draw you closer to Him!

I have learned to appreciate every hardship I have gone through and still going through as an opportunity. Yes, an opportunity to minister and an opportunity to grow my faith and although I would never want to go through them again, I am grateful for what God has birthed within me as I have journeyed through them.

This week, no matter what your going through.. do these three things with me: REJOICE, PRAY, and GIVE THANKS but not because I said so, but because He said so:) and Let’s grow together!

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

tr(us)t ME and snotty jeans

Good Morning Friends!
Okay, I know you must be thinking..what kind of title is tr(us)t ME and snotty jeans! Yesterday, in church we were encouraged to fully trust God with all the circumstances in our lives. In addition, we were blessed to hear a testimony which is one I have personally heard before but for some reason it hit me so hard yesterday. God knew I needed to hear this message again and it was so powerful I wanted to share it with you!

Without going into too much detail, this child of God was going through a tough time, a devastating painful time. As she sat on the floor in her puddle of tears, she cried out to God and questioned her circumstances, God continually said trust me, trust me with this pain. She replied, I don’t think I do. I don’t think I trust you God. Continuing to cry, God spoke to His child and said get up and go write down the word trust. She did. God asked, what do you see? She said I see two crosses one at the beginning and one at the end..trust… God said that is right! I am the Alpha, Omega, The beginning and the end and I need you to trust me with everything in between. Then God said, what else do you see? She said I see us..trUSt. He said that is right! I have promised to be with you and never forsake you. Then she replied well what about the r God? What does the r mean? God spoke to her heart and replied, I never promised you anything less than what my own son bore on the rugged cross. I never promised you things would not get rough, but I did promise to carry you through the storm. Wow!!!!!!

As I stood there listening to this story again, I began to uncontrollably cry. God was speaking to my own heart. Jeannie, your not trusting me right now. I need you to let go of everything and fully trust me. I will stand on my promises, I will carry you through the storm, I will bless you, I am with you, I am for you, tr(us)t me. I stood there with tears and snot running down my face. Once the closing worship song ended. I turned to look at my son who said, oh my goodness! He desperately was looking for something to graciously give me to wipe my face, but there was nothing. Sitting high in the balcony, I had no choice but to use my hands to wipe away the tears and snot. I then wiped it on my jeans and grossly exited the building but with a much lighter and joyful heart knowing that God had spoke!

Sometimes we can get weighed down with responsibilities, struggles, and so on.. but God is simply just saying trust me.. trust me.. trust ME!

May you walk in peace today knowing that God is good and fully in control of all your circumstances!

“Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10

In His Time

Have you ever noticed how God is not in a hurry? For example, I would have loved to have this blog up and running months ago but God saw fit for me to be working on other important things. I have definitely learned to commit my day, my life to the one that created it. I have also learned that when I do this there is much less struggle. What God is calling for is full surrender. A surrender of those things we hold dear, close to our heart, a surrender of our desires. The desires that are heart wrenching at times, those desires that seem to be in everyone else’s grasps but yours. Those desires that you know God put in your heart so why? why can’t you have them?┬áHaven’t I been a good child Lord? Haven’t I served you well?

Let’s go deeper than a blog. You and I know we are talking about deeper subjects. In my own life, one of those desires would be a child. Maybe for you it is the same. Maybe for you it is a husband, A relationship to be restored, your prodigal to return home, a child to know Christ and serve Him, the home you always dreamed of, leaving your job to move into ministry, the perfect marriage (by the way there is not one!), or maybe its just to be free, healed from some pain or bondage in your life.

Friends, let me encourage you. God moves in His perfect timing not ours. Sit on this a moment, God is not blessing you now in your timing because He is waiting to bless you instead with His perfect timing with His very BEST! He is never late, but He is sometimes not early either. He is sometimes a God of the midnight hour, God of the early morning. He sometimes waits until the last second so He may be glorified. Remember God is not concerned with time “Nevertheless, do not let this one fact escape you, beloved, that with the Lord one day is a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.”2 Peter 3:8 What He is concerned about is our Faith and Trust in Him. He will stand on His promises. He put those desires in your heart and He will fulfill them in His timing!

Sometimes our self-will and spirit of independence must be broken so God is free to work His will in our lives and circumstances. I believe He wants to be sure that we are not going to take matters into our own hands and do something out of His perfect timing. This is my story. In my journey of infertility and waiting for my blessing, I have had much advice in how I should move forward. However, I want to know my blessing has come from Him alone so the only advice I am taking is from my Lord. He has told me “Once you have done the will of the Father, then you will receive the promise.” Hebrews 10:36 I believe this is what He would have me say to you today!

While you and I are waiting for our mountain to be moved, we must know God is doing a good work in us and He wants us to look around for others we could bless, comfort, serve. He wants us to be content in the now because during the now is when He does his finest work. In the now is when we are changed and so are others! So I encourage you to Pray, seek, and you will find. Pray and He will tell you things you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3 Pray, and you will receive!

I hope you will enjoy this new space provided for you to visit and be encouraged. My prayer is that you and I would become friends, that you would be blessed as I become transparent and share my heart. I was overwhelmed at the responses on the old blog site coming in from all over the world and was saddened when we had to change directions and put my readers on hold. So I am praying God will begin to pull you all back in because I know He has something specifically to say to YOU!

Our Struggle Can Make Us Strong

View the struggle I heard a story once of a man who found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could, and it could not go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life on the ground with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand was that the restricting of the cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be┬áready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes, God will have us struggle in life. That is because He has a plan for us! He knows what is best and He knows what He is doing. We just have to trust Him. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I certainly was able to relate to this story. God does not promise no storms but He promises to carry us through them. Today be like the eagle in Isaiah 40:31 “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Be encouraged! God will turn every struggle into something strong and beautiful, just like the butterfly!
