From a Mother’s Heart

Updated: Apr 13, 2022

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted” Isaiah 66:13

There is a day on the calendar we celebrate each year called Mother’s Day. It’s a day we give honor and celebrate our Mothers through gifts meals, or a special visit. Each year when this day arises I am filled with a wave of emotions, as many are. Yes, Mother’s Day may bring feelings of joy, sadness, or both.

Mother’s Day first began in 1908 when a lady named Anna Jarvis held a memorial service for her Mother in a church in West Virginia. Then on May 9th 1914, President Wilson proclaimed the first Mother’s Day asking all Americans to give public thanks to their Mothers.

As a Mother, you may be celebrating with your living children, or you may be missing the embrace of a child in Heaven. The loss feels sometimes too much to bare. Oh how we long to see their face and feel their embrace. “Blessed are they that mourn, for they will be comforted” Matthew 5:4

As a child, you may be missing your Mother who is no longer on earth. You miss her laugh, her hugs and you are forced to just cling to her memories. For many, Mothers’s Day will never be quite the same. May today and everyday you feel her presence through Jesus Christ our Lord. “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted” Isaiah 66:13

Then there are others. My sisters, my friends, that desperately desires to be a mother. You long to hear a little voice call you Mommy. You are exhausted from praying and waiting. For you Mother’s Day is a reminder of what you desire, but can’t seem to have. You feel forgotten. I’ve been there. I know how you feel. With my heart broken, I watched many Mother’s Day celebrations pass me by. I say to you there is Hope. May your heart be uplifted. May you experience the miracles of God in Jesus name. “Blessed is she who believes what the Lord told her would be accomplished” Luke 1:45

I am blessed to still have my Mother. I am also blessed to have children on earth, but I long to see my daughter in Heaven. Each Mother’s Day I wonder how it would be if she was here. Whatever your circumstances are I pray you are comforted. I pray for your heart to be filled with God’s promises and Joy.

From one Mother’s Heart to the next I bless your Spirit with the Words of our Father:

“And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed.’” – Luke 1:46-48

“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13

“And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.” – Luke 2:51

“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.’” – Proverbs 31:28-31

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:13-14

“You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3:4

Happy Mother’s Day!
